Pebble Beach Pro Shop Hats and the Golf Merch Opportunity
I saw a post on X showing four hats in the pro shop at Pebble Beach, and I think it highlights one of the biggest opportunities in golf. In every single corner of golf, having the slightest bit of taste is huge upside.
The irony is rich. If you're doing the buying for Pebble Beach, you have, in fact, made it. But I digress.
A couple of these hats show this isn't really about bad decisions. It's a lack of decisions. I don't see how the code, the ethics, the brand standards you live by at a place like Pebble Beach allow for "let's just do a map."
The grand finale is the one where somebody decided, "We'll just put golf on it."
I'm not just being a hater, and it's not my personal taste I'm pushing. What you most likely have is a buyer going along with whatever the sales rep pitches. The first step away from that is an ounce of taste. A little bit that says no, we need better.
Show some intention. Do a Pebble Beach hat instead of inserting PB into the generic boilerplate. A simple, classic Pebble Beach logo on an understated piece is better than all of these. That goes for every course and every category, not just the greats.

Saw this post on x, and I think this highlights one of the biggest opportunities in golf. This is four hats that responded in the pro shop at Pebble Beach. Bro, in every single corner of good, having the slightest bit of taste, huge upside. The irony is, of course, rich because if you're doing the buying for Pebble Beach, you have, in fact, made it, but I digress. Now the next two kind of highlight that I think this isn't just, like, bad decisions. It's just a lack thereof. I just don't see how, like, the code, the ethics, the brand standards that you live by at a place like Pebble Beach allow for, like, hey. Let's let's do a map. Let's just do a let's just do a map. I think the grand finale here is, like, the, hey. Let's we'll just put golf on it. We'll just put golf on it. I want to remind y'all I'm not just being a hater. I truly think that this is a big opportunity because what you have here is a buyer that is most likely just kinda going along with whatever the sales rep is pitching them. But the first step to not just go with said flow is just an ounce of taste, a little bit of taste that says, no. We need better. Because a simple classic Pebble Beach logo on an understated piece is better than all of these. Every core, every category in good, little bit of taste, take you to the moon.
