Are the Masters Gnomes Ending?
Say it ain't so. The Masters gnomes are coming to an end. At least that was the speculation in March 2026.
In 2025 I went deep trying to find the origins of the gnomes. No luck. This isn't about lore.
The speculation is that the gnomes have become too commercial. Too commercial for the merch industrial complex that was about to do $100 million in a couple of days in April. We all know ceasing production will just add to the hype. Last year's gnome sells for over $300. Pre-pandemic ones, obviously, much higher.
But check this. Sources say it goes deeper than that. This is about lines and experience. Apparently the gnome is responsible for lines that not even Augusta can contain.
Just another example of how the Masters is one of the most ridiculous and impressive institutions in all of sport. Let's go.
