Bad Birdie's $246 WM Open Jersey Went to $61 on Clearance

By Colin LandforcePublished

My video about the Bad Birdie Waste Management hockey jersey is over a million views now, largely because of the price tag.

I'm not a Bad Birdie guy, but honestly, it caught my eye until I saw the tag. They wanted $246 for a limited edition dye sublimation hockey jersey. And believe me when I tell you the rack was chock full of them. They were not selling.

My point was that at $250 these were dead in the water. At a $100 to $150 price point, these things be flying. Limited edition or not, they cost Bad Birdie maybe $20 landed. No tackle twill, no embroidery, no patches, nothing. At $150, even if the shop takes half, that's still 70-plus percent margin.

The update

At the end of the day on Sunday, everything in that merch tent goes to 75% off. Multiple people told me they picked up this exact jersey for $61. Original tag: $246.

There are a lot of ways to sell a piece like this at $250. Slapping "limited edition" on it is not one of them.

Bad Birdie takes a well-deserved L. Not for being greedy. Mostly for being out of touch, overconfident, and thinking I wasn't gonna make a video about it.
